For all your bass fishing and outdoor sports needs

Years ago, I started using swimming worms down in Florida and was amazed by their effectiveness. With so much grass and thick cover in the water, sometimes they’re the only bait that can get the job done.

The Strike King Menace Worm quickly became one of my go-to choices. It features a twin Rage Tail design, delivering exceptional swimming action that attracts fish in dense environments.

Designed for Efficiency

This bait has ribs along its body, which serve two purposes:

  1. They make it easier to rig your hook so it stays fully inside the worm.
  2. They allow the hook to pop out effortlessly for reliable hook sets.

Whether casting over expansive grass flats like all grass or milfoil or working through heavier cover, the Menace Worm performs exceptionally well.

You can fish it with no weight for a natural presentation or add heavier weights to get down to the bottom where the fish are hiding.

Rigging the Right Way

I like to Texas Rig this worm for versatility and effectiveness. For clear water, the blue crawl color mimics bluegill patterns perfectly.

Pair it with a big offset Mustad Ultra Point Wide Gap hook with a grip pin to securely hold the worm. The ribbed body lets you run the hook through easily and tuck the hook point just under the surface, preventing snags from grass or slime.

The key to success is keeping the worm straight while rigging—it improves swimming action and ensures it moves naturally through the water.

Choosing the Right Color

Matching the color of your bait to water conditions is essential:

  • Dirty water: Use darker colors like black and blue or June bug for better visibility.
  • Bluegill-heavy areas: Opt for something with chartreuse accents.
  • Clear water: Green pumpkin is a classic choice.

How to Fish the Menace Worm

This bait excels when fished like a swimbait. Cast it out over grass flats or through thick cover, and swim it along with a steady retrieve. Its lifelike action makes it irresistible to bass, and it’s a deadly effective technique in all types of vegetation.

With the right setup and approach, the Strike King Menace Worm can help you tackle even the toughest fishing conditions.
